Staking its claim for Southern Tokyo's hottest spot this spring, the Futako-Tamagawa Rise shopping centre is set to include rental giant Tsutaya's new concept bookstore, along with the same brand's first-ever electronics shop, a 10-screen cinema complex, a fully equipped gym and pool, and more shops than most people can look through over a single weekend. Opening on April 24, the facility celebrates with two weeks of fun events, including music performances, workshops, markets and special film screenings, plus an appearance by Dutch artist Theo Jansen and his Strandbeest, a beast of a contraption that moves with the wind and is supposed to be an example of 'artificial life'.
