On shelf from June 30, 2015, the seventh issue of Time Out Tokyo magazine brings you '50 things to do in Japan'. Starting with Kyoto's KOU-AN Glass Tea House, which is featured on our cover and created by artist and designer Tokujin Yoshioka (that's him inside the tea house), our selection includes both popular and lesser-known sights and venues, all beyond Tokyo. Perfect for when you need a break from the city, or if you're visiting Tokyo on holiday but also want to experience more of Japan. From slurping 60 bowls of soba in one sitting, to discovering Tottori's 'desert', to sporting a kimono on a film set, you won't get bored this summer.

Still got time for more? Spend a weekend taste-testing gourmet kakigori (shaved ice), especially the 'Mango Shortcake' version at Sebastian, bar hop your way around the city to find the tastiest craft beer on offer, learn how to tie a yukata and then shop for the edgiest design out there, and take a tour of Tokyo's most interesting outdoor art.

And for even more things to do in Japan, check out our full guide: '101 things to do in Japan'.
