On shelf from December 20, the fifth issue of Time Out Tokyo magazine brings you 'The best of Tokyo 2015'. To welcome in the new year, we've put together a special section packed with the city's latest hotspots and heroes – all of which made us sit up and take notice over the last year. You'll find no less than 15 new restaurants, reviewed by UK guest editors Guy Dimond (Time Out Group Food and Drink Editor) and Susan Low (Time Out London reviewer), along with attention grabbers like the sexiest ramen bar owner, quirkiest love hotel renovation, and most talked-about gallery opening.

The trends don't stop there, of course. If you've picked up on the burgeoning skateboarder-turned-artist scene, we've interviewed three creative pros to find out more. If you're wondering what all the fuss is about noise music, read our debate: 'Is noise music really music?'. And if you just can't figure out why there are so many drag queens on Japanese TV, tune in to our interview with the pioneers of 'josou' culture, Bourbonne & Esmeralda.

Lastly, pick up some ideas for 'Things to do in the snow', learn what it's like to be a monk for a day, and plan your New Year detox with our guide to inspiring ways to drop the festive season kilos and brighten the mood for 2015. Happy New Year!
