Good Design Exhibition 2012

Billing itself as one of Asia's largest design events, Good Design Expo – which takes place at Tokyo Big Sight this month – is also one of the least discriminating. It's a marvellous idea in theory: a chance for creators from a diverse range of industries to show off their latest inventions, all of which have been honored with a Good Design Award. The only problem is the sheer volume: there are just over 1,100 lucky winners this year, more than a third of the total number of entries. Perhaps that's why tickets for the event are valid for three days – you'll probably need that long to sift through everything on display.
