Tokyo Motor Show 2011

Like many manufacturers, Japan's automakers faced severe disruption to their supply chains in the wake of March 11. They'll be trying to get back to business as usual at the 42nd edition of Tokyo's biennial car show, which is moving back within the city limits for the first time in 24 years as it shifts from Chiba's Makuhari Messe to Tokyo Big Sight. This year's show also promises to be a significant improvement on the desultory 2009 edition, with 176 exhibitors compared to the 129 seen last time around. Expect world premieres of over 50 new models, including the Toyota GT 86 sports coupe, Audi A1 Sportback and VW Passat All-Track, plus the Japan debuts of another 82 more. Hi-tech concept vehicles offer visitors a glimpse of the future, and there'll also be chances to test drive new cars and bikes – and, of course, to ogle at the notorious 'booth babes'.
