Hot on the heels of last weekend's Hokkaido Festival, the southernmost of Japan's main islands is getting a chance to flaunt its own charms. This year's Kyushu Festival (the Japanese title is far too convoluted to translate properly) will feature around 50 booths, hawking regional specialities including Kagoshima kurobuta pork, toriten chicken from Oita and Fukuoka's famed Hakata ramen. Hopefully this will make up for the patchy live 'entertainment', which seems to consist mostly of quizzes and PR spiels by local tourist reps.
