The proprietor also owns part of a mountain, and has used the timber he has sourced there to turn a city-centre bar into a mock log cabin. Over the years, the customers have given it an urban makeover with graffiti, stickers, flyers and business cards covering the walls. It’s not as boorish as it sounds, and if you’re seated at the long centre table, you’ll soon be engaged by friendly fellow punters. There’s an impressive 70-item menu of cheap and cheerful izakaya grub.
