On October 25, Keio University Hiyoshi Campus hosted a special screening of ‘The Social Network’ – a film that focuses on Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of Facebook – scheduled to be released in cinemas on January 15, and already receiving positive reviews from both Time Out London and Time Out New York. Following the screening, which took place during the first half of the event, attendees – mainly Keio University students – were treated to talks given by director of Dwango Company, Ltd, Takeshi Natsuno and director of Mixi, Ichiya Nakamura – both of whom lecture at Keio University. We caught up with a few of the attendees, amongst who might be the next Zuckerberg, to hear what they thought of the event…

Shun
‘It’s an insight into what it must be like to be involved in a start-up – dashing about doing things etc. In the future, I’d like to be involved in fields such as communications, clean energy and space.’

L: Naru, M: Yuri, R: Izuuchi
‘Incredible, the guy’s a genius! Fascinating. In the future, I’d like to find happiness.’ [Laughs]

Fummy
‘It was pretty fast-paced; it didn’t really feel like a two-hour movie. In the future, I want to have a family.’

L: Chami, M: Kuma, R: Funatsu
‘Some of the discussions were incredible and full of passion. As a movie it’s engaging – it gets you thinking about social networking services. In the future, I’d like to contribute to the web.’

Second L: Yuki Hisano, second R: Kazuya Nakamura, and friends
YH: ‘I thought Natsuno was particularly interesting. In the future, I’d like to have the kind of influence that can make a person more “interesting”.’ KN: ‘If you’re into IT you’d have loved this event. In the future, I’d like to make a world like the one depicted in the film “Summer Wars”!’
