Even among the scores of food events taking place in the city in May, this one stands out with its single-minded focus: the only dish on offer is omu-rice, the classic Japanese comfort food that consists of fried rice wrapped in an omelet and covered with a sauce of your choice. Ten specialist restaurants, winners of ten regional contests held earlier in the year, converge on the Skytree's outdoor Arena for a weekend of calorie-heavy competition that ends with the crowning of Japan's number one omu-rice. Check out the challengers here, and remember to vote for your favourite on the day.
