A romantic Pontocho address plus Kyoto cuisine with a river view usually adds up to a steep bill, but Mi-masuya is refreshingly casual and affordable. The young staff serve high-quality local cuisine, including plenty of tofu and seafood. It’s the kind of unfussy fare that you’ll find in fancier places at twice the price. There are private rooms, but try to snap up a window seat with a view of the Kamo river.
