Shimbashi Enbujo

The sibling to Tokyo's main kabuki theatre Kabuki-za, Shimbashi Enbujo Theatre was built in 1925 and originally planned as a space to present the dance performances of the Shimbashi geisha. Today however you can see all sorts of performances including drama, comedy, kabuki and traditional dance. It features unique characteristics of a traditional kabuki theatre such as the hanamichi runway (an elevated stage extension that runs all the way to the back of the theatre) and is located in between Tsukiji Market and Ginza's shopping district.
