Choshu Bakumatsu Walk

Sat Oct 11, 2014 NBF Hibiya Bldg.

Time Out says

Here's one for the history buffs: taking place in the area around the Imperial Palace as part of Tokyo Yamaguchi Week 2014, this walking tour helps you find important monuments related to the Choshu domain and the major role it played in the last years of the Shogunate (bakumatsu) and the onset of the Meiji Restoration. Start your stroll in front of the NBF Hibiya Building, the former site of the early Meiji-era Rokumeikan hall, and head for spots like the statue of military leader Masujiro Omura and the place where the Choshu daimyo's Tokyo residence once stood (in present-day Hibiya Park). Participation costs ¥500, and advance reservations are required: you need to apply by September 30. See the official website for full details.
