Review

Paris has the Eiffel Tower and Tokyo has the Tokyo Tower, so Osaka had to build the 91m-high Tsutenkaku (‘Tower Reaching to Heaven’). The tower is the city’s best-known landmark after the castle and was once the biggest crowd puller. It stands in an eccentric but flamboyantly imitative area called Shinsekai, a great place for people-watching and a glimpse of Osaka’s earthy side.
