Review

Kyoto is the city of shrines and temples, but Osaka also has its fair share, and Shitenno-ji is the pick of the lot. It is said to have been the first Buddhist temple in Japan, dating back to 593. When Buddhist-leaning Prince Shotoku defeated the Shinto-favouring Mononobe clan, he built this temple as a monument. Shitenno-ji hosts a lively flea market on the 21st of each month.
