The main reason to visit the old home of Yasuyuki Namikawa (1845-1927) is to see examples of his cloisonne work. The leading enamel artist of his era, Namikawa was known for his intricate ‘shippo’ cloisonne work of bold colours framed with gold or silver lines. The museum stands in the artist’s finely preserved 1894 house and garden.
