Design, for charity...
Pechakucha Night raised $80,000 in response to the Haiti disaster - enough to rebuild a school. Their attentions turn this time to Tohoku, and the theme is 'Inspire Japan'. 80 PechaKucha cities have responded to the call so far (though not all of them are able to do it on April 16), with creators preparing work that focuses on the words 'inspire', 'Japan', 'the issues', and 'recovery'.

Mega-fundraise...!
They'll be starting in the afternoon and carrying on way into the night at a 'non-stop music relay' charity party at hip Harajuku hangout Montoak this Saturday. Tokyo Dai-Ouen Kai (literally, Tokyo Mega Fundraiser) corals together a welter of big-name local DJs: Tomoyuki Tanaka, Towa Tei, Ko Kimura and Shinichi Osawa, to name but a few.

Watch a dubstep war...
This month's bass worship session at Unit was originally supposed to be headlined by Goldie, but radiation fears forced the King of Jungle to pull out. It's been left to Silkie to hold down the fort, which might not be such a bad thing: the West London producer and DJ is one of the most consistently interesting forces in the dubstep scene, forever wriggling free of the stylistic orthodoxies of the genre. Added bonus: no Goldie means it'll be cheaper to get in, too.
