Review

Kodai-ji’s next-door neighbour is a 24m-high concrete bodhisattva that towers over a small complex commemorating the soldiers, foreign and Japanese, who died in World War II. It’s most impressive from afar, but you can climb inside the Kannon to see Zodiac-themed Buddhist statues.
