Director: Roger Donaldson
Starring: Nicolas Cage, January Jones, Guy Pearce Time Out rating:
Japanese title: Hungry Rabbit

Nicolas Cage has spent so long turning himself into a living cartoon that he’s lost the ability to play human beings. At the heart of this solid, if spectacularly brainless, thriller is a high-school English teacher whose wife (January Jones) is assaulted and raped. Consumed with a desire to seek – wait for it – justice, the pissed-off instructor becomes a client (and later a target) of a covert vigilante ring. Once upon a time, the star would have added both gravity and a manic edge to this wronged everyman. At this juncture, Cage is less believable as an average joe than he is as, say, a cursed trick rider with a flaming skull for a head.

Seeking Justice opens at nationwide on June 16
