Even though Ishihara was famously the favourite inn of cinema legend Akira Kurosawa, there are much better reasons to stay here. First and foremost, the welcome and service from the okami (proprietress) equals that of a top-end ryokan. With just six rooms to attend to, your host provides attentive, amiable hospitality. There’s also the prime location in the Downtown district. Best of all, it’s superb value for money - the traditional ryokan experience without the bruising price tag.
