Zac Baran

One night it’s a rock bar, the next it’s a jazz club, or perhaps a house of blues. Zac Baran has had 30 years in which to figure out its identity, but it still feels like a different place each time you visit. It’s most fun as a live venue that hosts a wide spectrum of events, ranging from bamboo flute recitals to raucous student rock bands. Its proximity to Kyoto University keeps the crowd young and hip, while the food and drink is cheap and cheerful.
