Kiyomizu-yaki is a celebrated local style of ceramics that developed when Kyoto was flourishing as a cultural capital. This store, run by third- and fourth-generation potters, sells top-quality examples of the genre, but it also lets visitors take to the in-store potter’s wheel to create some less exemplary items. A class costs ¥1,500-¥3,000, depending on what you wish to produce. For an extra ¥1,000, they’ll glaze your creation and mail it to you.
