Before the emperor moved to Tokyo, the palace grounds housed more than 200 estates for court nobles. Nowadays, most of the buildings have been razed and the grounds have been turned into a park, open to the public 24 hours a day. In terms of scenery, it can’t begin to compete with the great gardens of Kyoto, but it’s good for playing games.
